National History Day in Washington D.C.
Our group (Zoe Blumm, Elaine Hendrickson, Hannah LaLonde, & Sameera Williams) from Taylor High School in Kokomo, Indiana is competing for the first time in National History Day, which is an opportunity that challenges students to do the work of historians, guiding research, analysis, and presentations of student-chosen historical topic. This allows us to show our creativity by going  in depth about topics in history that fascinate us. The topic for this year's topic is "Taking a Stand."

Thus we chose Levi and Catherine Coffin, who were Indiana Quakers and abolitionists. They helped thousands of runaway slaves escape to freedom. The Coffins played a major role in the Underground Railroad. To best portray this duo we decided a performance would greatly represent the Coffins and their courage to take a stand in what they believe.

After much work and dedication we made it through the regional and state competitions and moved onto Nationals, which is in Washington D.C., which the money would be difficult to raise in such a short time period. This is a great opportunity for our group and we would appreciate any and all donations. Thank you very much! Please share!
