Natalie and Jagger have lost their home and everything they own in the Ventura fire, yesterday 12-5-17. Their insurance is not going to cover everything. They don't have a place yet to live. They need all new practical items for daily life. They will also need to cover rental costs for a new place in Santa Barbara/Oxnard. Essentially, they need help to get back on their feet after this destructive blaze has turned their lives upside-down.
We are all asking how we can help. Let's band together to show our friends that we have their back. We know they are true survivors, but these next steps will be difficult, indeed. Emotionally it is devastating and financially it is not looking good either.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when I mention Natalie Horn and Jagger Bredahl? Chances are, you can't think of one without the other, and you can't think of this crazy couple at all without cracking a smile. These recently wed lovebirds have been rolling on a rockin' epic life journey for many years now, and they are so lucky to have each other.
After this destructive and life-threatening fire ravaged their town and their home, it is sure that they know exactly how lucky they really are. When they were forced to evacuate alongside thousands, they grabbed a few precious items. Although the danger was there, they couldn't imagine their home gone in a flash.
Fire fighters assured them that they would fight for the house. Well, they fought and they lost. When Natalie and Jagger returned, they were shocked to see nothing but rubble remained of the hopes and dreams they had built. They had been told the house was fine, albeit a bit smokey.
With only an hour of light left, they looked through the ash, but found nothing salvageable. Jagger's perfectly curated record collection, Natalie's vintage treasures and beloved heirlooms. Wedding gifts from their family and many friends. All gone.
Always full of laughter, joy, and crazy dreams and schemes, these two have touched the lives of so many. They make our lives more fun, more colorful, and more worth living. Their beloved "son" Monty may be mysterious to many, but we all adore his beautiful mug and adorably stunted legs from afar. Monty is antisocial and will probably need to boarded in L.A. for a period, adding another complication to the mix.
Jagger is an extremely hard working self-employed builder of magnificent things (his Ventura shop was spared from the fire). Natalie spent years of her life and taken on lots of student debt to become a doctor and now she works in Ojai at a practice she loves. She absolutely adores her patients and pours her energy into helping others every single day.
Natalie and Jagger will need a stable place to stay in Oxnard/Santa Barbara ASAP that allows dogs so that they can stay close to work and pick up the pieces.
Their Mid-Century house, one of the oldest on the block, is one of the only ones that burned down. They purchased this beautiful relic last year and moved in around November. They had just proudly hosted their first family Thanksgiving and Jagger had painstakingly finished the gorgeous wood flooring throughout. Their guest room/office (a favorite stay among friends) was lovingly painted to be a replica of Pee Wee's Playhouse, Chairy and all.
When talking to Natalie, she has assured us all that "things are things." Jagger is always one to pull himself up by his bootstraps and will soldier on. But there are practical costs that will need to be addressed. Let's be real. They are painfully underinsured. They may be forced to rebuild in order to get any insurance. Neither of them would ever ask for money.
