Nasty Women Memphis Art Exhibition

Donation protected
We welcome and thank you for your help with production costs of the Nasty Women Memphis Art Exhibition.

We will need finger food and beverages for the opening on Friday, February 10, 2017, and beverages for the Saturday, February 18, 2017, closing. We are happy to list you as a sponsor on our web site and in signage used in the exhibit, but we will also respect your wishes, if you prefer to be anonymous.

All donations will be kept anonymous unless indicated otherwise.

All excess funds not used to cover production costs will be donated in full to Planned Parenthood.

NASTY WOMEN MEMPHIS, the Memphis affiliate of NASTY WOMEN, a group exhibition that serves to demonstrate solidarity among artists who identify as or support a Nasty Woman in the face of recent and ongoing threats to women’s rights. NASTY WOMEN MEMPHIS aims to act as a catalyst for conversation, and echo the platform for organization after the Trump Presidential Inauguration in January. Opening on Friday, February 10 from 6:00-9:00pm and on view through February 19, 2017, the exhibition invites self-identifying Nasty Women or artists who support a Nasty Woman to contribute artwork to be sold, with half of the proceeds given to Planned Parenthood.

All submissions are due by January 27, 2017. Artwork can be 2D or 3D, and can incorporate poetry, sound, and video.

NASTY WOMEN is the result of an artist’s call for action on social media that was quickly answered and continues to be shared across the country and internationally. Given the level of far-reaching interest, the exhibition producers designed a concept that could be easily-replicated by other artists and organizers in their own communities.

NASTY WOMEN MEMPHIS is one of twenty-five exhibitions affliated with the NYC NASTY WOMEN Art Exhibition. To learn more about submission requirements and details, visit nastywomenmemphis.com.

NASTY WOMEN MEMPHIS will be held at Marshall Arts, 639 Marshall Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. Exhibition weekend hours are 6:00pm-9:00pm on Fridays, February 10th and 17th and Saturdays, February 11th and 18th; with half day exhibit hours of 9:00am-1:00pm on Sundays, February 12th and 19th. Mid-week show times are 11:00am-5:00pm: Tuesday, February 14th, Wednesday, February 15th and Thursday, February 16th. The opening reception will occur during the Friday, February 10th, exhibit. A closing reception that will include a Q&A by a few exhibited artists is scheduled during the Saturday, February 18th exhibit hours.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of performances and events designed to cultivate discourse, resistance, and healing within and across communities increasingly at risk at this critical moment.
