Narissa Bond's New CD Project
My name is Narissa Bond, singer/songwriter/guitarist, asking for you to take part in my upcoming recording Project by donating to my gofundme campaign.
It's been years since my last recording, THREE WORDS and many of you have been asking when my next recording will be completed.
This project chronicles almost eight years of my life, but in some ways, it is about my entire life. What seems to be the connecting theme is family. In the song, “Wish Bone” I travel into my mother, Zelema Harris’s past and her father who was born in 1866, who found water with a diving rod. James Marshall refused to pass for white, even though he was often mistaken for being a white man. I wrote the song “Beyond the End of Time/Malia’s Song” after hearing my niece Malia put herself down. I wrote it for her and for all children who sometimes believe lies other children and adults tell them. I suppose for the child in all of us. “The Road to Berea” the video for my campaign is about the Bonds, my father’s side of the family, from Jane the slave, to Horace Mann, to Julian Bond and more.
Donations from you will pay for studio time, CD duplication, and pay a number of incredibly talented musicians, including Bassist David Mills and percussionist Charlton Phaneuf .
Your donations will allow the music to reach a much larger audience. I come from a family of storytellers. I have heard my mother tell stories her entire life, my sister, Cynthia Bond (author of the novel RUBY) is a writer. I have written and sung the stories that are in my heart. Sometimes I feel the love of my ancestors with me when I am working on a song. I know I feel the love of my family and friends.
I’m really excited to be able to offer a free concert to my top donor within a 200 mile radius from Norfolk (exceptions can be made beyond that designated area.) to my top donor. Other prizes include a visit to a recording session visit, an autographed CD and many more. Please check out my list of donor gifts.
I am eternally grateful for any contribution you give, great or small. It will just mean so much to have you walking with me on this journey.
Thank you so much for your time and your continued support.
In love and light,
"Narissa Bond's music truely speaks to the soul. I say this, not because she is my sister, but because I have watched, over the years, her bring such joy and wonder and pain and bittersweet longing to those who hear her music. She is an artist who paints stories with the brush of inspiration and love. While I only have a stark page and typed words to communicate, Narissa uses the woven magic of music and heart-stopping lyrics, which resonate on an alchemical level. Music can touch us in a way no other artistic medium can. Talent is a gift, a treasure...that makes Narissa Bond the wealthiest person I have ever known."
~ Cynthia Bond, New York Times Bestselling author
I want to thank everyone who has donated to my cd project. With the help of your funding and the hard work of some very talented musicians and great sound engineers I am 8 songs into the project. I have 4 more songs to record along with final vocals and guitar. Then the project will be ready for release.
It has been a dream of mine to get this music, that has been created over the last 8 years out into the world. These songs are about hope, self empowerment, love and my family's history.
I need your help. Please donate to this project to make this dream a reality. Please remember, no donation is too small. Help me get this cd project completed and out into the world.
Peace and love,
Video of me opening up for sis Cynthia Bond at the Baltimore Book Fair in September, with the song “Wishbone”, which will appear on the new CD release.
My fall performance schedule has slowed downed after spending time with family in August, a busy performance schedule, and a nasty fall out of an elevator, which i am successfully recovering from, with no broken bones. I will be replacing "Blondie", my damaged guitar, soon after I settle with my insurance. Now it's time to get back to work in the studio. We got several songs knocked out at our last studio session, at the beginning of August.
A special "Thank You" goes out to all who have donated towards this project. We have reached the halfway mark with our goal of $8000, and we are halfway into our recording project. I am beginning a push to reach $2000 by October 28th. This will get us closer to finishing our project, pay for studio time, and pay the musicians working on the project.
"Thank you to the moon and back again” for believing in this project. With your help, we are getting closer and closer to the finish line.
Please pray for those whose homes and lives were devastated during the recent storms on the US mainland, and the islands of Puerto Rico, Bahamas, and the Virgin Islands. I pray for their speedy recovery.
In love, peace and light,
New and exciting things are on the musical horizon. Since I last posted David Mills and I have gone back into the studio to lay down bass, guitar and vocal tracks for our upcoming release. We have recently reached the halfway mark of our fundraising goal. We are currently planning more time in the studio in the upcoming weeks.
Recording each song is like putting together the pieces of a giant puzzle. One by one, the pieces come together. Some of the songs that will appear on this album have been written in the past year. "Ten Hours" (A song about a journey to visit a long distance love) and "Infinity" (A song about life's infinite and beautiful possibilities) are two new songs that will make it on the album.
I want to thank all of you for your donations to my GOFUNDME New Cd Campaign. Without your contributions this project would not be possible. We are still shy of our goal of $8000. So we are still accepting your contributions to keep us in the studio and complete the project. So please donate and continue to spread the word! A special thank you goes out to Joe Talley and Steve Stancliff the incredible sound engineers we have been working with. Look for updates, photos and video!
