Nan the Ham Needs Your Help!

Nan the Ham is in the ICU with an unexpected $7,500+ ER bill and could use your help!

Nan the Ham has spent the past 5+ years with her adopted mom, volunteering and working hard to raise money for other French Bulldogs in need. Frenchies that have landed themselves in foster care just like Nan once was. After five years of living the good life, 8 year old Nan is now in the ICU and she needs your help!

This past weekend Nan found herself at the ER, trembling and with a swollen face. She had a salivary gland stone and was slated for surgery with a board certified surgeon this week. After 48 hours of increased swelling, difficulty standing on her own, and an 18 hour bout of drooling blood, Nan stabilized and headed in for surgery on Thursday.

Last night, Nan's mom posted on Instagram, "Nan's surgery took 3 hrs tonight and her surgeon said it was the worst and most difficult they could have possibly expected.

The salivary gland stone was embedded deep within a duct with nerves, vessels, arteries, and muscles all around it. Along with a CT scan, the surgeon and her team injected dye and a tube through near the base of the ear canal to try and locate the stone within the parotid gland on the inside of Nan's cheek, but had no luck. The surgeon had to remove the entire right side of her salivary gland.

Nan made it through surgery and is staying in the ICU. She has a drain to release 'goo' and a soaker catheter for injectable pain meds.

She has no blink in her right eye. Could be a severed nerve or it could be a damaged and may heal. Her blink may come back in a few weeks or months or never. The surgeon also said she *thinks* she got all of the gland tissue out but it's possible Nan could swell and become infected again sooner or later.

Nanners is in a lot of pain and this will be a difficult recovery. Thank you all for sending your pawsitive mojo and checking in on her. I wish she could comprehend amount of pawsome friends she has."

On top of Nan’s salivary gland issue, Friday afternoon Letitia received a call from the surgeon letting her know that Nan was having trouble walking. Initially the surgeon thought that the difficulty was due to pain, however a neurologist believes this could be caused by a disc compression. For now the doctors are recommending strict crate rest and supervision for Nan, but it is uncertain how this could play out.

We know Letitia has pet insurance for Nan the Ham, but we also know that the pet insurance is barely going to make a dent in this bill unfortunately. And after spending several thousand dollars in the past year and a half on Nan's brother Clyde, we'd like to help out the woman who has worked so hard to help raise money and save other rescue frenchies in their time of need. Letitia would never ask for help, regardless of how much it is needed. We'd like to surprise her with the gift of donations, to help relieve some of the burden this emergency has caused.
She gives so much of herself to others so we feel that the least we can do is to organize this page to help alleviate some of the financial burden of Nan’s sudden emergency vet treatment.

We do not have the final bill due to Nan still being in the ICU, however the total bill is estimated at over $7,600 currently.

Nan the Ham is queen among the rescue frenchies and we hope we can help her get that smile back on her face. Thank you so much for your support!  We will be providing more information on Nan's condition as we receive it. #allhailthequeen #queennanners #instanan
