My sister, Nancy Bosovich, has throat cancer. She is single, self supporting, on a small income from working just making ends meet. She is doing both radiation and chemo. Her insurance has a $5,000 deductible.
Unfortunately her diagnosis came last year and so her expenses will span both years for a cummulative total of $10,000 plus 30% above her deductible. She will be on short-term disability and off work starting in February due to the debilitating effects of her treatment.
When she goes on short-term disability her income will cut in half. She hopes the amount be enough to cover rent and utilities.
She anticipates only being off for 2 only months, however she knows the negative effects will be with her until mid summer.
