Together for Education in Kolkata
Teach Me is an international development project followed by a group of volunteers from Verona supported by the NADIA Onlus Association.
The project takes place in Howrah, one of the poorest districts of Kolkata, where many low income families live who do not have the opportunity to send their children to school. It is precisely here that the need arises to support the only school in the district that offers free education in English.
Here the children find a shelter from the street, a basic education and when possible even a meal a day.
The school is currently in economic difficulties and that is why we are working hard to try to stabilize the situation. On this occasion we have opened a fundraising campaign to which we invite you to participate with a small contribution and to spread it to your friends.
The next steps of the Teach Me project will be dedicated to:
- improving the quality of the education offered
- restoring the school so as to increase the number of children involved
- giving the opportunity to young people and adults all over the world to carry out a volunteer experience in the school directly in Kolkata.

Teach Me è un progetto di sviluppo internazionale seguito da un gruppo di volontari di Verona sostenuti dall'associazione NADIA Onlus.
Il progetto si realizza in Howrah, uno dei quartieri più poveri di Calcutta, dove vivono principalmente famiglie a basso reddito che non hanno la possibilità di mandare i propri figli a scuola. E' proprio qui che nasce la necessità di supportare l'unica scuola del quartiere che offre un'educazione gratuita in lingua inglese.
Qui i bambini trovano un rifugio dalla strada, un'educazione di base e quando possibile anche un pasto al giorno.
La scuola attualmente si trova in difficoltà economiche ed è per questo che in primo luogo stiamo lavorando duramente per cercare di stabilizzare la situazione. In questa occasione abbiamo aperto una campagna di raccolta fondi alla quale vi invitiamo a partecipare con un piccolo contributo e a diffonderla ai vostri amici.
I prossimi passi del progetto Teach Me saranno dedicati a:
- migliorare la qualità dell'istruzione offerta
- restaurare la scuola così da aumentare il numero di bambini/e
- dare la possibilità a giovani e adulti di tutto il mondo di svolgere una esperienza di volontariato mirata per la scuola a Calcutta.
