In Memory of Nabil Captan

He loved his family and fought for them to the very end: Nabil Captan passed away on Sunday, Dec 21, 2017.  He didn't make it through the holidays.  But one reason he lasted as long as he did was to see his son, Sammy, and bride-to-be, Lauren, marry just a few days prior, on December 16th.  He made it to the wedding.  And then a few days later, everyone said their goodbuys.

The Captans never asked for our help, but many of us know there is a burden there we can help with.  I swiped the following from a FaceBook post of hers:

Jihad Captan: "Yes, we made it... to celebrate the long awaited event for our family. The marriage of my son Sammy to his beautiful and well loved Lauren who has been not only in his life for almost 13 years but in our lives too. We welcomed her long time ago to our hearts and now officially we welcomed her to our family. Could not be any happier to have her in our lives.

Nabil, as most of you know, was battling end stage metastatic pancreatic cancer . We were not even sure he would have the strength to make it . But thanks to a team of doctors and nurses who took care of him at hoag hospital for 2 long weeks and then the extra care he got from his oncologist Dr Nishan Tchekmedyian who wanted to make sure Nabil don’t miss on his sons wedding and that sammy will have the whole family together when he ties the knot. Took a lot of team work and effort to get him there. He only lasted enough for the ceremony but we are happy he made it.

I want to give a shout out to my dear friend Nick Fabre , God bless him. He volunteered to care and help us with Nabil before during and after the wedding.  We had to take him to his room back at the hotel right after the ceremony . Nick stayed by his side caring for him so I can have a chance to celebrate the whole event. Can’t thank you enough Nick Fabre, and I say that on behalf of all the family.

Thank you for everyone who showed up the make this event a success. It was just a beautiful wedding that both Lauren and sammy deserve."

Sincerely,
