Na Menehuene Drill Team to SCIDM

Donation protected
The Moanalua High School AFJROTC Na Menehuene Color Guard and Unarmed Drill Team, commanded by Cadets Rozelle Cayetano and Vivianaiy Cimarrusti, have been performing at island wide drill meets since my August 2014 arrival here on the beautiful island Oahu.

Both of these teams have carried our unit tradition of providing high caliber drill and ceremony services when requested.  They maintain an adherence to strict performance standards and are highly sought after by both state and local government to display their drill expertise on a regular basis.  They have also performed for various professional organizations within the community with a focus on drill team demonstrations and to ensure that we pay proper respect to our nation's colors.

These cadets are very involved within the unit and community.  They have continued to provide excellent support at high visibility events such as the annual commemoration ceremony at Pearl Harbor as well as the Air Force Ball, where they were requested by name to perform for the commander of Pacific Air Forces and his guest totaling upwards of 1000+ attendees.  Showcasing their talents has not only increased our community service "footprint" in the local area but has allowed them to rack up an impressive 300+ performance and community service hours during my tenure here as an instructor.

They are highly competitive and have consistently placed at island wide drill competitions against our sister services as well as between other Air Force units on island.  This has paid big dividends for them as a team, as they have been invited to compete at the Southern California Invitational Drill Meet (SCIDM) which is taking place on 10 February 2018 in Redondo Beach, California.

This is a high-octane competititon complete with evaluations performed by local Marine Corps Drill Instructors and Air Force Honor Guard personnel from local bases.  Both junior and senior level ROTC units  from across the nation are in preparation for one of the largest regional competitions available for cadets to particpate in .

These 11 cadets are ready but need to meet both equipment (new rifles, specialized uniforms, etc.) and travel requirements (plane tickets and lodging) in order to take part in this event.  The equipment needed to be as competitive as all of the other teams is our largest hurdle.  In order to make that happen we are asking for some assistance

$4000.00 would cover all of our expenses, and they have already raised $1,250.00 of that through fundraisers.  They are also charging ahead with more attempts to raise the money themselves, but any assistance will do as they must also focus on practices to hone their individual drill routines.

We need to ensure that by 5 February we are able to pay for our lodging, rental vehicles and extra baggage fees for all of our equipment for our 8 February flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.
