Finally my artist in residence can be realised. Slightly different from other residencies. Na Colina means “on the hill”. Seen from the hill the Ribas valley is one of the most beautiful in the northen part of Portugal. With this project I want to stimulate the beautiful Portugese countryside in any way.
ABOUT "NA COLINA"
Na Colina is located in Ribas, close to the hills of Lameirinha, in the north of Portugal, only 50 car minutes from Porto. The owner, Hennie Lenders has an international reputation as an artist, curator, initiator and teacher in Europe, America and Africa, http://hennielenders.wixsite.com/painter . Living and working since 2015 in this environment that inspired his work resulting in a comprehensive exhibition at the Forum da Maia Museum. (2017 exhibition link: https://youtu.be/YYgihAFssEg )

Na Colina is slightly different from other residencies. I want to share the view, the inspiring environment, a combination of untouched, pristine nature and structured agriculture, not only with visual artists, musicians, actors, writers, etc. but with all art and nature lovers. This is a unique opportunity to make your own work or vacation in the Portuguese hills. Na Colina has no obligations or admission to participate. Http://na-colina.simplesite.com/
ART IS A PROCESS
Development and coherence of the process is most important. Sometimes insights become clear only years later. That's why "NA COLINA" has no obligations to produce or exhibit. It's the process that counts.
Visual artists, writers, musicians, actors, etc., but also gallery owners, curators from all over the world have the opportunity to work. Na Colina is for anyone who's in need to achieve quality.
Artists with international fame such as Wannes Lecompte, Paulo Quintas and Sergio Alves can provide expert advice as appropriate to ensure quality of residence.

THE STUDIO'S
To realize Na Colina a target of € 5.500,00 ($ 5.860,00) is required for cultivation, materials, and the construction of three studios on an area of 2400 m2. The studios are transparent and the unique landscape remains visible from all sides.
Three basic studios of 20 m2 each are ready for use now, just like a nice and large 3-room apartment that serves as a guesthouse.
The target of €5.500,- will be spent in 2018 and 2019 on the acquisition of materials for necessary expansion to 40 m2 per studio, restoration, comfort, finishing and decorating. Architectural advice from Dutch architect Frank Domburg. Already existing basic resources and the organic growth of the studios will results in a unique art center within 5 years from now. That's the ultimate goal I have in mind.
NA COLINA'S GOAL
Within 5 years, unique constructions and artworks will be provided and will make Na Colina an international art center with all possibilities for a film and/or music festival. Like I recently organized with a foundation in Belgium https://youtu.be/WPbjLXDfwoI .
Maybe your artwork, performance or film can be shown in such a festival.
WHAT PROVIDES "NA COLINA" HIS RESIDENT
- A personal, quiet and transparent place to study and work. A studio with necessary basic tools and a 2400 m2 area with the best view on Ribas.
– Low cost and no obligations to produce.
- Professional guidance and a place where your work can be exhibited or not.
- The resident can participate in finishing and furnishing the studios to make it his own. An ongoing organic development. The unique opportunity to bring your family.
- The result of a working period can be an exhibition, performance or workshop, at least an opportunity for discussion, communication or a statement or just an idea how to shape your future work.
Na Colina is asking the resident for a short written story about his stay. These stories are bundled annually for a special edition. All residents will receive that book.
THE CROWDFUNDING
If you want to join the crowdfunding and decide to donate, you are supporting a unique idea from a distance. You can choose from the wide range of drawings and paintings. No shipping costs.
If you choose for a stay, NA COLINA becomes a part of you. In consultation with Na Colina, you decide when and how you want to stay. You will receive a contract confirmed by a noatary. Your stay is always based on 2 people. If you choose a period 4 up to 8 weeks, you can spread it over a maximum of 3 years. As if you have your own studio in Portugal to work and relax. For yourself and your loved ones.
The Freguesia Ribas (the municipality of Ribas) in Portugal welcomes the idea Na Colina.
