Our friend Brenda Reints has the biggest heart for rescuing animals. Over the years, she has rescued or helped in some way with the care of more than 19 dogs and 30+ cats, not only financially, but physically and emotionally as well. On May 18, Brenda came home from work to find that her beloved dog Drake, a 153 lb Chesapeake Bay Retriever, was viciously attacked by a pack of coyotes in her fenced in backyard. She took him to the emergency vet where he underwent 4 hours of touch-and-go surgery for multiple puncture wounds, deep lacerations to the bone, a partially severed tongue and teeth that had been knocked out. He remained there for two nights for observations. Although his injuries were severe, he was able to come home to be cared for because Brenda is a nurse. Since then, he has had vet visits 3 times a week which has incurred thousands of dollars in medication and veternarian bills, which is still on going. Brenda will never turn down an animal in need (no matter how great the need is) and was reluctant to let me start this go fund me page for her. She is so passionate about animals and works harder than anyone I know. She’s a wonderful nurse, mother, and supporter of animals. Any amount will help as she is overwhelmed both emotionally and financially by this heart wrenching tragic event.
