HELP BRING ELI BACK TO HEALTH
For more than half of his 20’s, my son Eli has missed out on being able to do the things he loves, like: finish his college education, write music with his band, make jewelry and art, and marry his wonderful fiancé. Even simple things like driving his car and spending time with his friends have been impossible due to a crippling illness that went undiagnosed for over 5 years. His physical and mental health has been deteriorating daily in alarming ways. He lost over 70 lbs. in less than two years and was down to 115 lbs. Now, at 29, this young man with an IQ of 160 can’t do a simple math problem. He’s bedridden for the most part and unable to even watch TV because of the impact this illness has had on his brain. Insomnia sometimes keeps him from sleeping more that 1-2 hours a night.
Luckily, we recently found a doctor who was able to finally make a diagnosis. Eli has Chronic Neurological Lyme Disease, which means it’s in his nervous system and his brain. He’s infected with two different strains of the Lyme bacteria and it’s extensive.
The good news is his doctor is an expert at curing this devastating disease. The challenging news is, because it’s so severe, it’s going to take at least a year of treatment to restore his health. The other challenge is most of the treatment isn’t covered by his insurance. After over 5 years of going from doctor to doctor without a diagnosis the medical bills have added up. Now he’s looking at a year of expensive treatments. Eli really needs your help to get well and get back to his life. When he gets better, he wants to increase awareness of this disease that is called, The Great Imitator, so that other people don’t have to suffer like he has.
