Jake's Fight 4 Life-Hodgkins w/heart condition

We invite you partner with us to secure the help that Jake needs.

As you may know, Jake had just spent 99 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in a daily fight for their baby daughters life (micro preemie born at 1 lb 3 oz), with many serious complications involved (see video below). This forced Jake to leave his partnership as co-owner in the family business and move away to secure the help his baby needed because it was not available locally.

Not long after baby Ivy was released from the hospital in a favorable condition, Jake noticed a lump, and eventually was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer in his neck, armpits, groin and a spot on his lung. We found this out just days before Christmas, after months of waiting for test confirmations, which enabled his cancer to progress to stage 3 before being diagnosed.

To make matters worse, Jake had open heart surgery when he was born (Transposition of the Great Vessels). This is cause for great concern, as chemotherapy could permanently damage his compromised heart. In our extensive research the past few weeks, we have been advised of promising adjunct therapies as pre-chemo treatments that are largely non-toxic, can greatly restrengthen his immune system, potentially reduce all cancerous tumors, and in turn lower the amount of chemotherapy needed to a much less damaging amount by 1/2 or more.

This is a huge beam of hope for us because the side effects from stage 3 chemo are damage to the heart, lungs, immune systems, causes infertility, sickness, hair loss, other long term effects, and the worst of all, chemo can invite a secondary cancer to arise and invade, usually leukemia, which will be even more difficult to treat.

Jake was referred to a blood cancer specialist that  is also very concerned about his heart, and mentioned that these adjunct therapies to chemo would be “extremely beneficial” for Jake. Unfortunately, these important treatments are not covered by insurance, and are very expensive $30k+. The more funds we can secure by multiple means, the more encompassing therapy treatments will be available to him.
And frankly, its our best hope at this point for a long-term successful recovery.
Jake is such a kind and wonderful person, loved by so many people. As his parents, you can’t imagine how devastating and costly this has already been for us. We are scrambling to do everything possible for Jake and his future with all of his loved ones.

The Edwards family deeply appreciates and  your concern, kindness and generosity.
