Vet + service dog attempting the AT

Donation protected
I am a disabled veteran of the Iraq war (68W line medic - infantry medic for the civilians among you). I did two tours of duty in Iraq and found out that I have complete heart failure shortly after leaving the Army.  I want to take the time right now to make it clear that I am both disabled AND a veteran but that I am not a combat injured veteran. I have ~25% of heart function currently and was given less than one year to live almost four years ago. One of my bucket lists items was to hike the Appalichian Trail (all 2,000+ miles of it!) So after years of making excuses and hearing "you cant do that" I decided F*UCK THAT!
I am preparing to start a section based hike of the trail in late April/early May with my service dog Tomah and my father. I might make it 5 steps or do the whole 5+ million that it takes to get from Georgia to Maine but I AM going to either finish or die trying.
The funds I am trying to raise will go towards gear, travel, logistics, puppy chow, and other trail related items. Any excess funds will be donated to help train a service dog for another veteran.
I would love to find a charity to partner with on our journey so if you know of one or are part of one please contact me!
I appreciate that you took the time to read this and will appreciate even more any donation that you choose to comtribute - no matter how small!
Thank you,
Brian and Tomah
