Amelia's Skydive- Breast Cancer Now

Donation protected
As most of you know, my mum Sophie was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in early November 2017. She is currently going through a gruelling regime of chemotherapy and is due to have major surgery and potentially radiotherapy.

As a daughter, whilst watching my mum go through this, I felt as if I should do something to help. Not help like hoovering the house or making breakfast for my mum, but something important that can help beat this awful disease. At this point, I thought of doing a skydive. This is something that I have always wanted to do but not only that, it is a huge way to raise money for charity and what better time to do it than now.

I have chosen to support Breast Cancer Now as they are one of the breast cancer charities currently funding research trials into triple negative breast cancer. Whilst it is true that primary breast cancer is sometimes easy to treat, sadly one thousand women a month are dying from secondary or metastatic breast cancer. Triple negative BC is an aggressive and rarer form of breast cancer that does not always respond to conventional treatment and can sometimes lead to a secondary breast cancer diagnosis. This is what is killing women.

The video clip released by Breast Cancer Now really resonated with me as I have a younger sister. The clip demonstrates the harsh reality of breast cancer on the little girls mum. Her innocent perspective on how she can help her mum is surely something. However, whilst we all know we can’t build a time machine, I’m sure you will all agree that it is not unrealistic to look towards a future without breast cancer. With more time, money and research, by 2050, it is hoped that everyone that develops breast cancer will live.

On Sunday 24th June, I will be jumping out of a plane just outside of Headcorn in Kent. I have never done any fundraising before so any donations would be really appreciated. Every penny counts and rest assured that your donations will be going to such an amazing cause which means so much to myself, my mum and my family.

It would also be great if you could just give 2 minutes of your time to sign this petition, thank you. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/200153
