Publish Book 'Architecture of Riga'

Donation protected
Dear friends! My grandfather Edgars Pučiņš was a visionary architect and a caring soul! He was the first restoration enthusiast of Riga city after World War II. Now the city is referred to as ‘pearl of the Baltics’. Thanks to his passion, in 1997 Riga was included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, and in 2007 Riga was granted the European Heritage Label. This honor was a result of my grandfather’s life long dedication to seeing Riga restored to the beauty he knew it was.

Towards the end of his life he began work on a book detailing the history of Riga’s architecture from it’s founding in 1201 to the present day. My Grandfather passed in 2009 before he was able to publish the book.

For me this book is important for many reasons. For Riga, Latvia, lovers of architecture, historians - this book is an important record of Riga’s history. Hidden between the lines is the triumph of will over the devastation brought against the city during the worst war in history.

Your donation will help see that this city’s story is preserved forever. It will bring Riga’s beauty and history to those unfamiliar. And offer a deeper understanding for those who already cherish this city.

From me to you, the deepest heartfelt thanks.
