Hello I am Marilyn Graham, I am a retired journeyman electrician member of LU 175. I would love to still be working, I loved my trade. The day I was accepted into the IBEW family I was truly blessed.  The last couple years I tried to work I really wasn't able to give it my all due to illness. I had several proceeduresand when it came to the hernia repair the CT showed that I had cirrosis of the liver. They proceeded to do the hernia repair with grave consequences, because of the cirrosis I developed a life threatening infection. Thank God and the support of family and extended family I pulled through. I was then tested and was positive for Hep C and had had it for who knows how long. With the help of my wonderful doctor Chirag Patel I was abel to get the treatment to get rid of it.
I am now living with the second cancerous tumor in my liver since then. But the greatest thing is that I am now on top of the transplant list for type O blood!! So I am waiting for a call from UAB any minute. My bills are overwhelming now so I am terrified not only of the surgery itself but how I will afford the medical bills and the medications I will need after transplant.
But now in the meantime I am in dier need of $2500.00 to solve a NASTY plumbing issue I have that will make it impossible for guests and health care providers to provide the care I will need when I come home for my recovery in a clean and sanitary environment.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I would be deeply indebted.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart and God bless.

Good morning to all !! I continue to do well. I have received yet another blessing. My social worker at UAB turned me for a grant for help with that Valcyte. It is not approved yet, but they did send me a 30 day supply in the meantime. T hat took a lot of stress off me since I took the last one I had this morning. Talk about timing-I just got the new one yesterday! Thank you all so much, it's like everything is just falling right in place. Praise God !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello gracious supporters ! What a wonderful morning ! As most of you know I did get a call on 7-30. They asked me to be in B'ham by 2:00 PM. She said they would be able to view the liver at 3:00. We were here by 12:30 and it was busy all the way up to surgery. They viewed the liver around 4:00 and it was good ! I think it was about 6:30 when they took me back- I don't have a clue what time they started or how long it took. I didn't wake up until sometime Mon. evening. They said it had gone well- and they weren't kidding ! I have been up running since then ! I am the picture of a perfect liver transplant so far. This has changed my life and my attitude in so many ways, and it's all good. I really have not had much pain from the surgery and I feel so much better than I did. They could not tell me the age or gender of the donor all they could tell me was that it is a young liver, and it works beautifully for me ! The only annoyance I am having to patiently wait through is that my insurance has denied one of medications. It is not actually a life saving drug, it is a preventive for CMV, I guess I carry the bug and I had it in the old liver. It cost $4128 a month. UAB gave me enough for 5 days and they are submitting me for a grant from the manufacturer for help. I don't expect that will go through either. When the insurance denied hep c treatment the manufacturers wouldn't help then because I have real good insurance. UAB assures me I will not have to do without this medication, and I have total confidence in them ! Thank you everyone one for all your support. I AM SO BLESSED !!!

Hello everyone I had a call from Private Number normally I wouldn't answer but I just had a gut feeling to do it . Yes it was the liver team wanting me to be out of within an hour and get there. After I called my daughters and sister she called back to tell me the doctor said the liver wasn't good so don't come. Talking about a wakeup call at 6:30 in the morning. But it sure let us know just how ready we really weren't. I was a basket case!! My daughter couldn't get a flight from KC on the spur of the moment. Does anyone have any suggestions?
