My Sweet Chloe Needs Your Help

Donation protected
It’s true what they say; your life can change in an instant. In late April, my husband accidently backed over my dog, Chloe. He didn’t know she was outside and he didn’t see her when he went to get into the car. We rushed her to the Emergency Veterinarian Clinic where, after X-rays, it was determined that her pelvis was crushed. At the time, they didn’t know the chances that she would walk again, but they were slim. We faced a horrible decision, one that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. But we couldn’t say goodbye to her like that and we decided to give her a chance and if she didn’t return to her happy, healthy self and have a good quality of life we would decide to end her suffering. She came home from the hospital with a few bolts in her hips and two nice scars to show for it. It wasn’t easy, she needed constant watching over and we needed to express her bladder at first. But… about a week after being home she seemed to be feeling a little better and was holding her bladder until she was outside. We decided to stick with it until we got the green light to put her in a wheelchair. We finally got the word and we built her a lightweight, PVC wheelchair. She feels so much better being mobile and we took her to the park for the first time and she was so happy. Almost like her old self. The reason for the gofundme account is the rising bills we’ve had to put on our credit cards. We had just mortgaged our house to pay off credit card debt and now we’ve accumulated over $6000 in debt for the surgery and the costs are still coming. We still need to get her a permanent wheelchair and we’ve had to get many things to let her have a somewhat normal life. I work for a non-profit and my husband is a work at home artist, so we aren’t exactly loaded. If you can’t help, I understand, thanks for reading and please keep Chloe in your thoughts so she can continue to stay happy and upbeat.

Origin Story:
We refer to Chloe as our ’Miracle Puppy’.  In 2004, we had a young Red Healer mix named Maggie.  We started kicking around the idea of getting another dog as a playmate for her.  One morning, we were casually talking about it:  “It would be great if we could borrow a dog for a couple of weeks, just to see if Maggie would like the idea.”  That same day, our neighbor called and asked if we could dog-sit for them.  They had found a very young puppy on the street and brought it home.  They were going out of town for two weeks and needed someone to look after her.  She even said, ‘If you like her, you can keep her.’  After two weeks, we were all in love.

Thanks!
