My Mom's Surgery Fund

In February this year, our family discovered that my mom has stage 3 breast cancer which she had been hiding from us for over three years. Since there is no treatment for cancer in Timor-Leste, we immediately took her to Surabaya, Indonesia. She was admitted to Rumah Sakit Onkologi Surabaya where the medical team conducted all the relevant tests to determine the stage and type of breast cancer she has. Since the size of the tumor was too large for surgery, she was administered pre-surgery chemotherapy (i.e. neoadjuvant chemotherapy) to shrink the size. Her first chemo began in mid-March and for every cycle, she has a 3-week rest period to which she travelled back to Timor-Leste to be with her loved ones. Last week, she finally completed her fourth chemo. She is now scheduled for surgery next week Monday, June 18th, 2018. (P.S. Since next week is public holiday in Indonesia for Eid al-Fitr, the surgery will likely be held on June 25th, 2018). 

 

The total cost of the surgery is 62.1 million Indonesian Rupiahs (i.e. 3800 Euro or 4520 USD). Unfortunately, our remaining (family) budget is only enough to cover the airplane ticket and the accommodations in Surabaya for the surgery purpose. The high costs of chemotherapy medications as well as the cost of travel arrangement and accommodations in Surabaya during her chemotherapy treatments have substantially exhausted our family budget. I am therefore appealing to your kind hearts to help us with my mom’s surgery bill. No amount is too small and every dollar is very much appreciated.
