Our girl Mel

£40,303 of £70,000 goal

Raised by 895 people in 10 months
Our beautiful girl Mel is battling a very rare cancer, a soft tissue sarcoma, called Epithelioid sarcoma. Mel is 28 years old. She is the most incredible, sister, fiancée, daughter and friend we could ever ask for.

In April 2016, Mel found a malignant tumour in her leg. Due to the nature of her diagnosis, chemotherapy was not an option. Her only option was to go through the most terrifying procedure and have her leg amputated. She did it and she got through it like the true warrior that she is and began to rebuild her life; despite many obstacles Mel was always determined to push forward and live life to the full. However, at the beginning of this year, the pain Mel was experiencing in her back transpired to be her cancer which had returned and spread to her lower lung. Despite extensive surgery in March to remove the secondary lung tumour, the disease soon spread to her chest. She has since been told that her cancer is terminal.

Mel is a warrior and she’s not giving up.  The treatment for this rare cancer is very complex and some of the treatments available may not be available to us on the NHS.

So, we are raising as much money as possible to contribute towards treatment for Mel’s cancer that will ultimately prolong her life.

‘While there’s life, there’s hope’

Mel – We love you and we are not giving up.

Dear Friends & Family,

We would like to say how overwhelmed, humbled and grateful we are for all this incredible support for our Mel.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤

This GoFundMe page and the subsequent fundraising event that Lauren and Stacey initiated and organised, have shown us just how much love and affection there is for Meliz.

As of September 2nd, Mel started Pazopanib - an oral chemotherapy drug that she takes once daily. Unfortunately, this type of chemotherapy is not available on the NHS but has been shown to work for the soft tissue sarcoma Meliz has.
Your donations are going towards the £3160 a month this drug costs. Thank you. We are also now securing a second opinion from a specialist team in America. To know that you could all help contribute to her improvement and recovery is amazing.

Mel continues to battle on. All your love and well wishes have helped lift her through some of her darkest days and will continue to do so.

Our love to you all.
