My Life After Hate


I'm raising money for:

· A travel fund empowering me to assist people face-to-face in the process of leaving white
 supremacist hate groups.
· Filmmaking gear to document the stories of people leaving hate groups, so that others may 
see it's possible and follow suit.
· Travel expenses for pro bono speaking engagements and workshops. 

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, I was a leader of a neo-Nazi skinhead gang, and frontman of the hate-metal band Centurion before single parenthood, love for my daughter, and the forgiveness shown by people I once hated helped to change my world, bringing love for diversity and gratitude for all life.

Today I am a speaker, author of My Life After Hate  , co-author of The Gift of Our Wounds  , and Director of Serve 2 Unite .

I've been honored to have the story of My Life After Hate featured on worldwide media like CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” , the BBC , MSNBC , and in The New York Times , The Huffington Post , The Washington Post , and “The View” .

Along the way there's been a bit of hate mail from people still burdened with the yoke of fear and ignorance, but there's been more cries for help. I'm contacted by people looking for guidance to leave hate groups on a regular basis.


Over the years I've had the privilege of helping many others walk their own paths of healing back to humanity. Most recently I was able to get a man named Chris Buckley to leave the KKK and drug addiction to become a great husband, father, and citizen. Chris now volunteers to serve the homeless and partners with Heval Keli , a Kurdish Muslim refugee who worked his way to becoming a cardiology fellow, to advocate for the American Dream to include everyone. This story was covered beautifully in the Washington Post . 


Funding to work with Chris and others seeking to leave hate groups has so far been out-of-pocket or parlayed from speaking engagements and consulting roles.

I'm raising funds here to have the capacity to rapidly respond to requests for help, and to purchase an entry-level camera to document these stories of redemption for the forthcoming Gift of Our Wounds Magazine, launching at GiftOfOurWounds.com  on the sixth anniversary of the Sikh Temple shooting, where a white power skinhead from my old gang murdered six people. In defiance of the hatred behind the attack, we'll bring seven new stories of our fellow humans finding the gifts in their wounds to the world, cultivating the kind of weaponized compassion that destroys the illusion of our separation.
Everything I do today is guided by my personal mission statement of bringing about a society where all are valued and included. Helping people see that there's a much better way to live life than through the lens of hate is a crucial part of that mission.  


On deck is a visit to Central Florida to help Ken Parker continue his journey out of a neo-Nazi hate group. Ken was recently featured in White Right: Meeting the Enemy , a brilliant documentary by Filmmaker Deeyah Khan  and Fuuse Films . Moved by Deeyah's compassion for him, even as he swore hatred for anyone who wasn't white, Ken is now in the process of turning his life around and embracing diversity. Beginning this August 7th, he's having a large tattoo of a swasitka on his chest removed. I would love to be there in person to support him, and to document the example he sets for others exhausted by hatred. Every time a new story of this kind is told, the possibility of others leaving hate behind increases.  
With your help, and help from my dear friend, brother, and Co-Author of The Gift of Our Wounds Pardeep Singh Kaleka, we'll make more of these stories happen and share them with the world, making it a happier and more peaceful place for everyone.
