My Flu Shot Nightmare

Donation protected
I am looking for help with medical bills. I’m a very healthy 26 year-old, active, and rarely sick. But after getting my yearly flu shot I owe more than I ever imagined in medical bills.

This is what happened.... I went to Rite Aid to get the flu shot (I’m a nanny and since the flu is so bad this year, I wanted to protected). After the flu shot I felt fine and started walking from the pharmacy to the register and that’s when I stopped and said, “I feel weird” to my mother. After a few wobbly steps (which I do not recall) I passed out landing face first on the tile floor. My faced bounced off the floor and my body went into seizer-like activity. As I regained consciousness I spit out the pieces of chipped tooth that were in my mouth. The employees at the store stood over me, doing nothing. Once my mom and the manger got me to my feet I sat with an ice pack on my head for a little while until my legs stopped shaking and I was able to leave. My mom started to drive home, when I told her I had a bad headache, my teeth and mouth were throbbing, my neck and back were hurting, and I was nausea. My mom turned the car around and drove me to the emergency room. In the ER I was given a neck collar and got a CT scan of my head and neck. Lucky, I had no bleeding but the doctor was concerned I might have a pulled ligament in my neck. I was discharged with a concussion and to make a follow up with a neurosurgeon and a dentist. A few days later I was able to get my front tooth fixed at the dentist. Four days after my trip to the ER I was at a restaurant and got so dizzy and nauseas that I couldn’t get up or pick my head up from the table. My body started shaking and I was close to passing out. My mom called the ambulance and I was taken back to the emergency room. They ran blood tests and EKG to check and make sure I wasn’t having any other problems they should be concerned about. The symptoms came in waves for hours at the hospital and I was eventual released and advised to make  a follow up with a neurologist. After a week of pain, dizziness, and nausea I had my follow up appointment with the neurosurgeon, who sent me two get an X-ray on my neck to check for a pulled ligament. It was at this appointment that I found out that the hospital does not accept my insurance and it will be considered an out of pocket expense. Overall the medical bills have racked up to just around $15,000!!!

Slowly I am getting back to my self. The pain has been going away and the concussion symptoms are happening less often. After two weeks off of work, I am ready to ease back into my regular routine. Now, the bills are starting to come in and I am beyond overwhelmed. I’m looking for help making my payments. Even the smallest donations will add up and are appreciated. Thank you for your help!
