My Father's Brain Aneurysm

Donation protected
My name is Marcy Cajalne-Angala, and I am a full-time stay-at-home mother of one beautiful boy, so we are managing solely on my wonderful, hardworking, husband’s income. This means we do not have enough income for emergency situations like this for our family who is living in the Philippines. This is why I’ve set up this gofundme page to raise money for my father’s brain surgery expenses and medications.

My father, Eulogio Padin Cajalne Jr., a lighthearted husband to our mother (Marcelina Panis-Cajalne), is also a loving father of five siblings and a grandfather of four adorable kids. He's a very active and religious individual serving the Lord, Almighty. His daily activities involve working on the farmland owned by another farmer in the neighborhood where he resides. He embraces a very ordinary life, an indigenous life which is a common life setting to those poverty-stricken people with no stable income in the Philippines.

Last February 23rd, 2018, my father was involved in an accident in Rosario, La Union, Philippines, where he suffered a head injury and body bruises but luckily, he survived and he has recovered quickly after a few weeks. From thereon, he thought he's starting to live his life, as usual, escaping the nightmare he's been through in the past few months. Not until the end of May 2018, a few weeks after celebrating his birthday, my father was rushed to the nearby hospital from the symptoms of what our family thought was hypertension. Due to the severity of his condition, he was transferred to the public hospital (ITRMC) in the province of La Union. After some medical examination procedures, they found blood clotting in his brain and eventually turned out to be a condition called subarachnoid hemorrhage non-traumatic, a very close case called aneurysm. That, if blood continues to clot in the brain, a huge possibility that his case will fall in comatose of which our family is trying to prevent happening. The initial advice and recommendation by the Doctor is an immediate brain surgery where they'll do cauterization of the blood and clip the ruptured vein/s to stop the bleeding.

When my father was admitted at the ITRMC, a public hospital that is government-funded in the province of La Union (Philippines), he was able to get free hospitalization by virtue of an indigent card which is recognized by the Philippine government health system. However, the procedure and medical equipment essential to clip the raptured nerve on his brain during the surgery are not available in the public hospital and he had to be transferred to a private hospital (Lorma Medical Center) where such brain surgery may cost between Php 300,000 to Php 500, 000 or approximately CAD$ 7,500 to CAD$ 12,500 including all medications. He got discharged from ITRMC and was transferred to Lorma Medical Center in preparation for the surgery. A day after he was admitted at Lorma, the Doctor has advised our family that the “coiling” procedure is more appropriate rather than the “clipping” procedure and thus, he recommended that we’ll send my father to a neuro-specialist in Manila, Philippines, a 5 to 6 hour drive from Lorma, should we opt to proceed with the very risky brain surgery. Otherwise, he advised us to consider special medications for my father’s case and monitor our father closely should he suffer seizure, it will trigger excessive pressure to the blood vessels and may rupture the affected nerves and blood clotting may continue and in that event, be ready with any consequences that may occur, that is, either perform an immediate brain surgery to remove possible blood clotting or the most fatal could happen, the very worst of all, and nothing they can do except to pray with us.

As we all know, the risk involved in a brain surgery procedure is very high and likewise very expensive cost-wise. Our family has decided to take this route in the event it’s necessary to save his life and/or prevent him from potential state of comatose, which is more unpromising and undesirable. Merely anticipating the cost of the procedure will tear our family down, financially and emotionally. This is the reason why we wanted to seek help from anyone or from those generous people who have the kindest hearts as we raise funds to help augment and somehow cover the cost of the anticipated medical procedure involved in his current health condition. All of these are happening so quickly and considering the emotional dilemma we are facing and the financial burden it will cause from this very unexpected event in our family, we are being dragged down so deep.

Any money raised with gofundme.com will be sent directly to my sister's account, Melanie Cajalne-Bucalan, and she will be settling the medical bills from the private hospital, Lorma Medical Center, and necessary medications. On behalf of my family, most especially my father, Eulogio Padin Cajalne, Jr., we would like to sincerely thank all of you in advance from the bottom of our hearts, for any financial assistance you can extend and ultimately, your unceasing prayers for his safe and sound surgery and quick recovery with high hopes.

We will update everyone about his condition on this gofundme.com page.

Please share and donate. Thanks!
