My Daughter's Fibromyaglia

Donation protected
Jayme, my daughter, has always had a very difficult time asking for help when she is in need. So, as her mom, I am going to do it for her this time. She has suffered with Chronic Pain issues for the last 6-7 years and every doctor wanted to slap a bandaid on it, go get this cortisone injection, go have this minor surgery, etc etc. They were all temporary fixes and that didn't last longer than a few weeks to a month and then the pain was back with a vengeance. She finally got the point that she begged her primary doctor to send her a pain/rehabilitation clinic to actually try to get a diagnosis/reason as to what was going on in her body.

Wells, after many tests, scans, etc, Jayme was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. This illness is very painful and she will be in pain for the rest of her life, as there is no cure. The level of pain varies day by day but most days right now, she can barely get out of bed without being in tears. There are only management options for her. The Doctor's are trying a few combination of medications that will hopefully get the level of pain to a tolerable level so she can lead a somewhat happy life. Along with the pain with Fibromyalgia, it also comes with cognitive difficulties like short term memory loss and being easily confused over the simplest of tasks. This has been the most difficult part for her. She is a very smart woman and is feeling very incompetent for not being able to do things on her own without help. Her doctor informed her she needed to take some time off work, short term disability, until she found the right combination of meds that would work for her and her cognitive issues had pretty much disappeared. Her doctor thought maintaining a stressful job and adding a multitude a doctor's appointments to try to get her on the right path of healing would simply be too much and cause her more stress which would lead to more pain. She is currently seeing a physical therapist, acupuncturist, counselor to help her learn coping mechanisms that pain will a part of her life, forever. She also has to do massage therapy, chiropractic care and the list goes on and on. Even with Jayme's medical insurance the bills are already beginning to rack up, causing her more stress on how she is going to manage to pay all of this money back for the help she needs. She needs all the help she can get from anyone/everyone even if it is just a $1.00. Everything helps and is so much appreciated. She has struggled with depression/anxiety for most of her life and with this diagnosis she has really been struggling to stay positive.
