My Body, My Choice, My Swim

In October of 2018, when I registered for my swim around Manhattan Island and was asked what nonprofit I wanted to fundraise for, I said Planned Parenthood . At the time, I knew access to women’s healthcare was an important issue and needed our support now more than ever. However, I could never have anticipated the siege woman’s rights would be under just nine months later.  

This is a war on women. In the wake of horrendous new laws being passed by multiple states across the country in an effort to make decisions about what we can and cannot do with our own bodies, I am using this swim to support an organization that honors our right to make our own choice.  

Many women are forced to travel for hundred s of miles or pay thousands of dollars just for access to the healthcare choices they deserve. If women in states like Alabama, Missouri and Louisiana have to walk, drive, or fly hundreds of miles for a right that they should be afforded as citizens of our country than I certainly can swim 26 miles to help them get there.  Support my swim and choice for women everywhere by donating to Planned Parenthood now.
