My Best Friends dog was shot & needs assistance.

This past weekend, my friend David and his wife Penelope were at Disney World celebrating their 1 year wedding anniversary when they received the sad news that their German Shepard Romo had been unjustly shot with a shotgun. Penelope’s parents were taking care of Romo and when they returned home that evening they found Romo injured by the shot. Fortunately they were able to get him to a vet immediately. While on vacation thousands of miles away, David and Penelope were asked to make hard decisions about what to do should Romo need to be resuscitated. Anyone who is a dog lover can understand how impossible those questions are, especially being so far away. 
Thankfully Romo is strong and has fought his way through this but needed surgery and a specialist to fix his severely fractured leg. Rather than put Romo through a risky surgery, David and Penelope made the choice to have Romo’s leg amputated. When the doctor performed the surgery to remove Romo’s leg he discovered the injury was worse than anticipated. He had to amputate more of Romo’s leg than was expected, from the scapula down, and removed approximately 75-100 pieces of birdshot from his leg and wasn’t even able to get all of pieces removed.
Just when David and Penelope thought that the medical bills would be done, their vet called to let them know that Romo needed another blood transfusion due to his blood count getting critically low. Of course, they could not give up on him now after making it through surgery!
Some people might think that spending so much money on a dog is silly, but anyone who has pets knows that they are family. Anyone who has ever met Romo knows how much he means to Penelope and David and he is the sweetest
dog who loves to play fetch.
