Make our MusiQuiz Font possible

Donation protected

Hello and thank you for clicking!

My name is Anke, and I'm a teacher for early music and art education. A part of that is teaching how to read music notes, that's sometimes boring for the kids.
My colleague Dunja and I once talked about music quizzes, and that we both loved to create them for our students. They have to fill in the blanks with the notes' names, like this:

Well, I am not only a teacher. I work as a font designer, too - maybe you've come across "anke-art" before. This lead to our idea to make a font that automatically leaves blanks for those notes that exist as letters, too.

So here's what I need the money for:

Last year I switched from Windows to Mac, and my old and trusted font editor won't work on my Mac any more.  I do have a Windows partition where I installed the software, but it doesn't support layers or advanced Open Type features*. To make the font as easy to use as possible, I'd need a different program. GlyphsApp , to be exact.
Because it supports Open Type features that are easy to implement, and they would make it a breeze to add varieties of all notes/characters of the font. There is a trial version of the software, and I tested it thoroughly. Awesome!
The full version costs 249 Euros. That's one part of what the money will be used for.

Then, when the font is completed, I'll need another ~200 Euros to advertise it. In print media and online, so the font will be introduced to other music teachers.

The work itself will be done by me, in my free time. I've actually invested more than 50 hours in the prototype already... :D

With your help, I can finally realize this project which has been waiting for more than two years now. This brain child needs to become reality!

Dunja would have a share in the profits of the license fees from the finalized font(s).

I would love to work on the font in August/September when we have our summer holidays, so I'd need the money by the third week of August.

*A little explanation about the font: Additionally to the English version, I would need a German font.
In German, the music notes have the names c, d, e, f, g, a, h (the b is what is called "b flat" in English). The flat notes are called ces, des, es, ges, as, and b. The sharp notes are called cis, dis, fis, gis, and ais. So the font would have many ligatures...
On my teaching website kreamusika.de (in German) you can find two "MusiQuiz " samples that are made with a prototype of the font.

In the campaign's image I wrote "and this would only be the beginning" because, naturally, I'll be able to use the software for other fonts, as well. Currently I have four fonts in the pipeline that I will be able to finalize with Glyphs!
