Musician in Need of Urgent Medical Care
Donation protected
A freak accident has left me injured, unable to work, and in need of urgent care and immediate surgery. Carpometacarpal (CMC) joint dislocation is an extremely rare injury, occurring in less than 1% of hand and wrist injuries. As a result, my left hand is in a cast, and the joint is highly unstable. Options for treatment are limited. My doctor, who is a widely recognized hand surgeon in New York, explained that surgery is immediately required — specifically, within ten days of the injury — for the best chance for long-term recovery. According to multiple sources, postponing treatment could prevent me from playing guitar in the future. As you can imagine, the idea of no longer creating and performing music with countless collaborators as I have for years is unfathomable.
Guitar is not merely my passion; it is my livelihood. This injury has forced me to cancel all upcoming gigs with numerous ensembles. I will likely be unable to work for at least three months while my hand is rehabilitated.
I am in need of immediate funds while it is determined whether I am eligible for disability. The surgery is contingent upon the first medical payment, which is due Wednesday, October 30. All donations will go directly to the costs of medical treatment (i.e. surgery, hospital fees, and rehabilitation) and immediate costs while I am unemployed (i.e. rent, utilities, and transportation).
Please know that I am deeply grateful for the kindness and generosity of my friends, family, fellow musicians, and supporters.
