Help The Music Box Dinner Playhouse Keep Its Cool!
The Music Box Dinner Playhouse, located in Swoyersville PA, is a non-profit community theater, dedicated to challenging artists and delighting audiences! For over 35 years we have remained a hub of year-round entertainment and activity for Northeastern Pennsylvania. From award winning main stage musical productions and entertaining musical reviews, to educational programs for both teens and younger children in stagecraft and theater skills, we continue striving to add to the vibrant culture of our community.
The BAD News:
As many of you know, funding for the arts has been cut across the board, intensifying the financial struggle for organizations like ours. Most independent theaters rely on approximately 50% revenue from ticket sales and the other 50% from donations, sponsorships, and grants…making it difficult when a capital expense comes up or something needs to be repaired.
The Music Box Dinner Playhouse is now in desperate need of two sudden (and major) expenses to continue operating for its 2017 season. First and foremost we need to replace our current Air Conditioning System. We need to keep our audience, cast, and crew cool! Since the weather is heating up pretty quickly, we want to make performances comfortable and safe for everyone during the already warm summer months ahead.
Secondly, our Lighting System is beyond repair and needs to be replaced to keep the stage lights shining on our stunning performances. While many of our actors enjoy being in the spotlight, we’re pretty sure one singular light just won’t do. Don’t let the stage at The Music Box Dinner Playhouse go dark!
The GOOD News:
We have been doing a lot to fundraise for these two major expenses: original performances, rentals, fundraisers, program ad sales, pursuing grants, and pounding the streets. But despite all that... WE NEED YOUR HELP!
