Jon was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in January. For the past 6 months he’s undergone 3 days of continuous IV chemotherapy treatment every other week. To maintain his overall health and to support the effectiveness of chemo, he’s followed a diet and supplement regimen that has significantly altered his and partner Michael's day-to-day life.
Currently, there is no cure nor is there a surgical option for Jonathan. He and his doctors are optimistic that the longer he can manage treatment to limit tumor growth in his colon and liver, the better his chances for new cures or treatments to be developed or for the surgical assessment to change.
Following his diagnosis and thanks to 58 supporters like you, Jonathan’s YouCaring page raised $9,050! But these funds and more have already been spent on the first 6 months of treatment, during which time his tumors initially reduced in size by 70%. A close look at his budget through 2019 reveals that he is likely to incur nearly $90k in out-of-pocket expenses over the next 18 months.
Here’s how that number breaks down: $30k (33% of goal) for a disability subsidy & alternative treatment fund, $14k (15%) for organic meals, $13k (14%) for family travel, $17k (19%) for non-covered medical, $14k (16%) for supplements, and $2k (3%) for GoFundMe credit card processing fees.
