Mum's medical relief fund

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Lisa and I need your help.

On 1st July 2017, my parents Rodney and Christine Adams left for a 10 day cruise of the pacific islands to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary. It had been a dream of theirs for years to do this and saved for a long time to make it happen.

Unfortunately on the night of Wednesday 4th July, Mum suffered a heart attack. She and Dad were medically disembarked at Isle of Pines and rushed to Gaston Bourret Hospital at Medipole Koutio in Noumea, New Caledonia. She arrived unconsicous and in a critical condition.

Over the coming days the doctors managed to stabalise her but they put her in an induced coma. She is also fighting a lung infection, which means she cannot breathe on her own. While in this medical state, she cannot return to Australia and the length of her stay in Noumea is unknown.

Dad is there but in a very emotional state. He needs emotional support from his family to help him deal with the situation. He also needs help with connecting to the internet and taught easy ways to keep in contact with his friends and family back in Australia.

My sister, Tracey, is over there at the moment but she has to return to Perth in a few days' time to be with her young family. We don't want to leave Dad alone for too long because it's a very tough time for him so my other sister, Amanda, and I need to visit but we do not have the funds.

We need financial help to cover costs for myself, Amanda and Dad. The funds will cover flights, accommodation, food, loss of wages, passport fees and other travel expenses. New Caledonia is extremely expensive and Dad is on a pension so doesn't have enough money to support his stay.

This is a very emotional time for us. We don't know if Mum will survive, we're hoping she does, but we don't know. All support is greatly appreciated. We had hoped not to ask for help but it's come to the point where we need to because between the three of us and our families, we don't have the funds.

Thank you so much to those who decide to help. I hope one day we can pay it forward.

UPDATE
On 15th July 2017, my mother passed away. It has been a very stressful time but she is now at peace and is no longer suffering.

Thanks to such kind and generous donations, Amanda and I were both able to travel to Noumea to support Dad. When Mum's condition worsened, Tracey was even able to come over again too.

Things are falling into place and Dad will be able to finally return home on Sunday with Mum's ashes. The hotel staff, the consulate, port agents, doctors etc. have all been so amazing in this traumatic time.

Unfortunately this campaign cannot end just yet. You may have noticed the target has increased to $100,000. I posted an update but for those reading this story for the first time, you need to know why.

My Mum's travel insurance has been rejected. That means Dad now has a $74,000 hopsital bill to pay. No one in our family has that sort of money, which is why we raised the target. The hospital has been kind enough to set up a payment plan, which Dad, me, Amanda and Tracey are all going to pitch in to pay each month. Of course we don't want to be paying this off for years to come so we are still eager to get donations so in time we can pay it off sooner.

Any donation, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated. Once again, thank you to everyone who has donated and to those who may donate from now on. Please continue to share to friends, family, colleagues etc. and get the word out. We would appreciate it so much.
