Short what and who? 


"MULTIPLICIDADES international festival of Performing Arts" is an international art festival that will take place from the 23rd until the 30th of June 2019 (first edition), in a small town on the beautiful West coast of Portugal. Santa Cruz is situated in the municipality of Torres Vedras in the region of Lisbon.

The festival is an intensive week of artistic interventions transforming the urban space of Santa Cruz into a poetic and vibrating environment.
In both the city center and the town’s beautiful beach, right in front of the Atlantic Ocean, performances in dance, theater, circus and music, installations, projections, jams, and workshops will take place. Changing the town into a dynamic artistic space.

MULTIPLICIDADES  emerged from the collaboration between Performact (a two-year intensive dance course), and Ilu Dança Teatro association in Torres Vedras, its local community, and the camara municipal Torres Vedras.

Performact is represented by dancers from all over the world and at the end of June, we, the students of the second year, will be graduating.
As foreign passengers and emerging artists who lived in this city during the two years of formation, we feel a social responsibility of contributing to the cultural and artistic growth of this region.



Where did it start?


In June of 2018 Performact was invited by the municipality to join the Summer festival Onda de Verão, by presenting performances that were developed and performed during the academic year of the school from October 2017 to June 2018. We were very happy with the opportunity.

Every night, during the last week of the month, the local community of Santa Cruz could enjoy a free dance performance in their local city square, providing a special and memorable opening of their summer season.
We were not only welcomed warmly and joyfully, moreover, the people of Santa Cruz showed a big cultural interest into the artistic field we presented.

Based on last year's successful experience we took the initiative to create a similar setting this year, only this time, offering the community a much wider range of performances in dance, but also circus, music and other activities. In addition, we decided to involve the local community in the creation of this experience. … And so…. was born Multiplicidades:  a festival for and with, the local community of Torres Vedras.

What is essential to understand about the festival?
Due to the many different cultural backgrounds of the young artists studying at Performact, our priority is to include a wide range of themes, providing a festival rich in possibilities and for all tastes and backgrounds.




Long term vision


It’s important to know that we’re not just aiming to create ‘a one time festival’. The name MULTIPLICIDADES is chosen very carefully. We have a long term vision. A vision of mobility.

Our dream is not only to establish MULTIPLICIDADES, over the coming years, in its birth town Santa Cruz. The idea is, that over time, we travel around with the festival in not just different multiplicities of Portugal, but also in the multiplicities of other European countries.

For the festival we are collaborating with the following local artists: the local philharmonic bands from the Municipality of Torres Vedras, the Folkloric Ranch of the West of A-dos-Cunhados, the African percussion group Gondutigui da Gondruzeira and independent jugglers resident in the Municipality.


Objectives of Multiplicidades


Share with the multiplicity of Torres Vedras our creations made in the international context of Performact. Offer a variety of interdisciplinary
works, strolling through the performing and visual arts.

Highlight the creative potential that public spaces can have through artistic interventions in ​​Santa Cruz.

Favor artistic exchanges between Performact artists and local artists by integrating them into the festival's program schedule.

Stimulate and broaden the local community’s interest in art, and collaborate from
and with all styles of art and people from all backgrounds.

Combine art with education and health and offer the benefits of this collaboration.

Showcase the performact course and the wide range of skills, styles and creative exploration and collaboration it offers over the two years.


Content of the festival


MULTIPLICIDADES  is happening from the 23rd until the 30th of June.
Every day of the week there will be performances and activities scheduled regarding a specific ’theme of the day’.
The festival will include the following topics: Power, Intimacy, Saudade, Technology, Femininity, Craziness, Games, Tradition.
Besides the performances, will be offered; educational, recreational and therapeutic (massage) activities to the community.

Why do we need this amount?

To create a free festival and to offer the schedule we have created, we need to be supported financially!

As we hope the festival will take place in good weather conditions and welcome and audience to a safe and comfortable environment, we also want to present our work to you at the top of its technical potential, and for this, we need support financially.

Our producer ( Câmara Municipal de Torres Vedras) and co-producer( Ilú Associação De Dança-Teatro De Intervenção Urbana) are supporting us by giving us a space, authorizations, licenses, transport, catering for the performers and technicians, parts of the light and sound equipment and the communication material.

This crowdfunding will help us to complete the needs we have, for this festival to be fulfilling and offer it in the best conditions possible.
In case we gather an amount exceeding our requested amount, we plan to print T-shirts of Multiplicidades for the organization team, in order to be recognizable, for the public, as representatives of the festival.
