Multiple myeloma, trying to raise awareness
My wife Jo was first diagnosed with active multiple myeloma in June 2017. She received her stem cell transplant in March 2018. In October 2018 her myeloma flared back up. She received further chemo over the next few months and was discharged from hospital Christmas eve 2018. Unfortunately her myeloma flared back up February 2019. This chemo kept her stable til may 2019. Currently ( June 2019) my wife is now on her 4th line of chemo. Currently there is no cure for active multiple myeloma and unlike many other cancers it's not a well known or publicised cancer. My 2 reasons for fund raising for this charity by doing the wirral walk is, 1, to raise awareness as its often a misdiagnosed illness and often not diagnosed til patients present with kidney failure, especially if you are under 65 years of age. My 2nd reason for fund raising is to try to help raise funds so with this charity we can one day find a cure for this cancer.
