We are almost there, thankys to the NYBA and other donors not through GoFundMe, our total target is $1,500 we are practically half way there. All donations push us closer to the finish line. Let's see some ball under the lights.
As you may know, the first time the lights are turned on in a month at Landroche Field, the organization must pay a one time $1600 fee. After that it is $63/hour to light a field. (NYBA has agreed to cover $800 of the light turn on fee)
Soccer is able to split the cost of turning on the lights with the Rec's popular flag football program in the fall. The baseball and softball programs do not have a counterpart to split the light bill with.
I would like to raise $2,500 (changed to $1,800) for the yound women and men of Newmarket and get some May varsity games under the lights.
The math is simple. $1600 (Now $800) to turn on the lights, two three hour games for both the softball and baseball teams $756 ($63*2*3*2) a total of $2,356 Now $1556 round up to $1,750 cover any extra innings that may be encountered.
The athletic director/coaches would decide which games would be appropriate to play, but we will certainly recommend senior nights to be one of the games.
