Monika’s and Ixq’anil’s birthday fundraiser for Mujeres Q’imb’al
On the 12 th of December, me and my daughter Ixq’anil celebrate my 31st and her 1st birthday! On this occasion, we invite you to celebrate together with us and support our friends from Mujeres Q’imb’al. Below you can see a short description of their work as well as some photos. Thank you!
The Groups of the Ixil Women Weavers Q’imb’al is a non-profit association created and formed by Ixil Maya women from various communities in the Ixil Region in Guatemala – Chajul, Cotzal and Nebaj.
Q’imb’al carries out a variety of activities that concern different aspects of the Ixil women lives, such as: recovering Maya cultural values written in the Ixil textiles, strengthening food sovereignty and sustainable family agriculture, environmental care, defense of the territory, the protection of sacred mountains, forests, and rivers, as well as women’s rights and demand for equal opportunities.
All these activities are aimed in order to seek a better life – life in harmony, dignity, equality, joy and family. A good life, or in the Ixil language: tiichajil tenam.
2019 is the 10 year anniversary of the legal registration of the Groups of the Ixil Women Weavers Q’imb’al as an independent association, and is one more reason to celebrate, share and contribute towards their efforts. They are also very thankful to you all for your willingness to support their association and for your trust.

Grupa Ixilskich Tkaczek Q’imb’al jest stowarzyszeniem non-profit założonym przez kobiety z grupy Majów Ixil pochodzące z trzech społeczności należących do Regionu Ixil w Gwatemali, w skład którego wchodzą trzy gminy: Nebaj, Chajul i Cotzal.
Q’imb’al realizuje różnorodne działania które dotyczą wielu aspektów życia ixilskich kobiet, między innymi: odzyskiwanie miejscowej tradycji zapisanej w ixilskich haftach i tkaninach, praca na rzecz wzmacniania suwerenności żywieniowej i zrównoważonego rolnictwa rodzinnego, opieka nad środowiskiem, obrona dostępu do ziem należących do ich społeczności, ochrona świętych gór, lasów i rzek, jak również ochrona praw kobiet i walka o równość szans.
Działania te mają na celu walkę o dobre życie - w godności, harmonii, równości, szczęściu, wspólnie z rodziną. "Dobre życie" to w języku ixil "tiichajil tenam", koncept który ciężko dokładnie przetłumaczyć na polski ale myślę, że wszyscy w swoich sercach czujemy na czym polega.
2019 to także 10 urodziny Grupy Ixilskich Tkaczek Q’imb’al jako niezależnej organizacji – jeszcze jeden powód do tego, aby wspólnie świętować i pomagać! Równocześnie przesyłamy serdeczne podziękowania od samych kobiet z Q'imb'al za chęć pomocy, za wsparcie ich organizacji oraz za okazane zaufanie.

El día 12 de diciembre yo y mi hija Ixq’anil celebramos nuestro día de cumpleaños (yo cumplo 31 y ella 1)! Por esta ocasión le invitamos a festejar junt@s y apoyar a nuestras amigas Mujeres Q’imb’al. Abajo pueden encontrar una breve descripción de sus actividades y unas fotos. Muchísimas gracias!
La organización de Grupo de Mujeres Tejedoras Ixiles Q’imb’al es una asociación sin fines de lucro conformada por grupos de mujeres Mayas Ixiles de diferentes comunidades en la Región Ixil en Guatemala - Chajul, Cotzal y Nebaj.
Q’imb’al realiza variedad de actividades que se refieren a las diferentes esferas de vida de las mujeres Ixiles - desde la recuperación de valores culturales Mayas escritos en los tejidos ixiles, fortaleciendo soberanía alimentaria y agricultura familiar sostenible, el cuidado del medioambiente, la defensa del territorio, protección de montañas, bosques y ríos sagrados, y al final - los derechos de las mujeres, la igualdad de oportunidades y la equidad.
Estas actividades tienen como fin acercarse a una vida digna, en harmonía, igualdad y alegría, una convivencia familiar, o, el buen vivir, en el idioma ixil: el tiichajil tenam.
Este año, el 2019, es también el aniversario de 10 años desde la registración de Grupo de Mujeres Tejedoras Ixiles Q’imb’al como una asociación independiente - una razón más para celebrar y compartir, por lo cual ellas agradecen por su voluntad en apoyar su asociación y por su confianza.
