MuddyMayhem Run for Prostate Cancer

I have decided to participate in this years Muddy Mayhem run which will take place on the 30th September at Hardwick Park, Sedgefield. It is a 10k run consisting of approx. 40 challenging obstacles including cargo nets, climbing man made walls, crawling through muddy tunnels as well as trodding through freezing cold water.

I am using this opportunity to dedicate this challenge to Prostate Cancer UK in hope to not only raise money for the charity but also awareness. 1 in 8 males will get prostate cancer at some point in their lives and this risk is heightened in males aged 50 and over although many develop the cancer much younger. The risk is also increased for those who have a family history of prostate cancer and also if their mother or sister has had breast cancer.  This figure is increased to 1 in 4 for black males.

I chose this charity as it is becoming an increasing concern as you can see by those figures I have just provided. However, the most concerning aspect of this is that no matter how scary those figures are, many men still do not get checked let alone checked frequently as they feel too embarrassed to do so but this is a life that you could save, so please... GET CHECKED!
