This is my son, Tom. He has just been diagnosed with a Stage 4 Glioblastoma. Currently a terminal form of Brain Cancer.
Tom is only 18 years old and has just graduated from High school in May 2018. At a time when many of his friends are going off to experience college and independence, planning the next steps in their future lives, Tom will be staying at home and undergoing a combination of chemotherapy and radiation treatments to battle this aggressive cancer.
As a family, nothing can prepare you for this diagnosis. I hope, pray and have faith that a cure will be found and that my Son will have the strength and time to beat this terrible disease and live a long and fulfilled life.
No one can predict what time any of us have left with our loved ones, but for Stage 4 Glioblastoma patients this diagnosis determines one thing that every day is precious and should be lived with purpose. Because of this we must focus on the here and now.
Tom has always wanted to travel and while he is well enough I wish for him to follow his heart, wherever it takes him. To go out and experience life by traveling this big beautiful world. I want him to live life to its fullest. Make new friends, learn about different cultures and gain experiences. I want him to focus on life and opportunities that are ahead of him after he completes his initial treatments.
Every parent wishes for their child to live a happy and fulfilled life, please help me in supporting Tom in building memories of an incredible adventure.
