As many of you know, I have been in Special Education for 10 years, and while I’ve changed schools a few times, one thing has always been the same: there is not enough funding for some of our neediest students. I am currently in the planning process for my second year at Grover Cleveland Mastery Charter School in North Philly, where I am a fourth grade Special Education teacher.
Mastery does an amazing job supporting its educators and students, but there simply is not enough money to provide for the kind of environment that our students need. After finishing my first year at Mastery, I have a lot of ideas on how to make my classroom a warm and welcoming place, where my students feel safe and cared for, but I cannot do it without your help.
