Mrs. Slater's Morning Choice

I am trying to switch things up in my classroom this year. I am wanting to add in some activities that help the students use different parts of their brains.  I want to purchase items that will push their artistic skills, building skills, and overall problem solving skills.  I'm looking at purchasing items that include: Legos, Play Doh, modeling clay, paint, and a few Osmo machines with some extra programs.  Osmo machines are an interactive addition to an iPad that allows the students to go off screen for a truly immersive experience.

The school that I work for consists of students that are high poverty.  My school's free and reduced lunch rate is around 85%.  This means that the students may not be able to afford these tools at home.  I'm hoping to make learning more fun and make school a place that these students are excited to attend.  I'm wanting to use a lot of these items first thing in the morning, so that hopefully my students will want to be at school on time as well.  

I have been teaching for 6 years and I feel that this is something that will really boost my students desire to be in the classroom.  Anything that can be contributed is greatly appreciated.  Help build a solid foundation for these students now and in the future.
