SUNS OF ARQA's 40th Anniversary!
As you probably know, the music industry of recent years has not been kind to the people who actually create the music, in particular those who do not follow the mainstream. It has become harder and harder for musicians to survive, pay rent, make a living, and continue making music that is true to their spirits.
Michael Wadada of Suns of Arqa has been a pioneer, creator, and initiator in the World Music genre, starting nearly 40 years ago in 1979. Suns of Arqa are a global music collective, pioneers of World Beat, Ambient, Downtempo and Electro-Dub, and draw inspiration from around the world, interpreting indigenous, tribal and classical folk traditions.
We are working on our 40th album (!) called "The Wolf of Badenoch" - and our goal is to complete it, promote it and release it for our 40th anniversary, and bring it to the stage next year in the form of live performances - and we need your help to make this all of this affordable!
Everyone who donates £20 or more will receive a CD of the album when it is released. We would be highly appreciative of any support, donations, and sharing of this GoFundMe page to help us realise our goal for our 40th anniversary, and hope that the music we produce will continue to inspire our audiences for a long time to come!
For those of you not familiar with Suns of Arqa, check out our work!
Thank you very much for your support so far. We have decided to re-record some of the tracks on The Wolf of Badenoch album, although unfortunately we still have not raised enough to press the album. This means the album will probably be a digital release instead of CD. We will keep you updated as we progress, and hope some of you can join us for the live Wolf of Badenoch show at the Belladrum Fesitval in Inverness this August.
Thank you so much again for your support and kindness.
