Summer Leadership Camp Opportunity

The most central core value we practice at Memphis Rise Academy is ambition, both inside and outside of the classroom.  We want our students to believe in the power they possess to meet and exceed their own personal goals, but also build an ambition for leadership in their community that will take them through high school, college and beyond.  

21 Memphis Rise Academy students have been selected for an opportunity to pursue leadership development training through Bridges USA, a local non-profit specializing in youth development, this summer!  The Bridge Builders COLLABORATE program kicks off with a week-long conference in June, and continues with activities throughout the 2017-2018 school year. This program is designed to help students across Memphis develop confidence in their leadership skills while building connections and finding shared experiences with a diverse group of peers.

4 of our students participated in the Bridge Builders program last summer, and each one of them stated it was a lasting experience.  One of our current 8th graders, Monique, stated, "Bridges taught you how you can be a leader and still be yourself.  We learned what it takes to actually act like a leader, which was hard but really inspiring."

It is an honor to have so many more students in the program this year.  Each student's enrollment fee is $100, and we want every single one of those students to be able to attend Bridges without worrying about the cost of enrollment.  A donation of $100 sends one of our students to leadership camp this summer, leaving an indelible impact on their lives.  Of course, donations of any size help us reach our goal.
