My name is Terri Soja.
I never thought I'd be doing this, but we don't have another option right now.
4 years ago, my husband Joe and I, along with our pets, fulfilled a longtime dream and relocated from our home in Philadelphia, Pa. to rural western Washington.
We found life on the west coast much more difficult and isolated than we had anticipated, and promised each other that someday we would move back "home".
Unfortunately, we're finding ourselves needing to return to Pa before we are really prepared to do so. Recently, my Mom was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer and will be undergoing chemo and radiation. She is 80 years old, and this is going to be tough on her. As her only child, I really need to be there to help her with everything as she is going through this. She has already fallen a few times and injured herself. And I am desperate to spend whatever time we have together being there for her, so we've decided that now is the time where we need to go back home.
My husband works a full time job, and can continue working for his company after we return home. I am permanently disabled and unable to work, so we have been unable to save the money we need to go now, when we're needed most.
So we are here, asking for any help you may see fit to offer.
We have a goal of $5,000 to cover our moving expenses, which includes a moving van, gasoline, motels, and incidentals along the way. We'll be taking our pets (2 cats and a Boxer) along with us. Once we get to Philadelphia, we're good. Joe will have a job, and we have family ready to put us up while we get back on our feet. Most importantly, I'll be there to help my mom.
I know it's a lot of money, and I'm not really good at asking for help, but anything that you can give, so we can get home to be there for my Mom would be more appreciated than I could possibly explain.
