MPAACT exists to develop, nurture, and sustain Afrikan Centered Theatre (ACT), an artistic expression grounded in the many cultures and traditions of the Afrikan continent and its Diaspora. With a vision focused on creating new work and collaborative art, MPAACT produces and educates with the goal of increasing understanding and appreciation of (ACT) and its interrelated disciplines. After a quarter of a century we are lucky enough to enter our 26th year with an entire season devoted to our Founder, Shepsu Aakhu.
Starting Over, By Association, & Never the Milk and Honey are three separate stories that appeal to every generation. They are stories of love and dedication to friendship that speak to the soul. They are stories of negotiating feelings and truth in our ever present reality.
These are an altruistic reality of the President Elect with open conversations in the LGBT Community, Muslim, African - American, Ethiopian, and white communities.
These stories are not just stories - but realities, truths that deserve to be held high and talked about out loud. A lot of us are confused and angered by what is happening to our country, and we are only doing what we do best - making art that speaks to the soul. Art that affirms that we are in community together. We have each other in the community - together. We will not let you fall.
But we need your help now too, to continue sharing our stories, with our community. Every penny counts and every penny helps us continue 26 years strong. These years are so much more than hashtags to us.
We'll see you at the theatre!
