Mariza isn't just my son's step-mother, she's family & one of the strongest, bravest, caring women I know.
Mariza needs our help. She was diagnosed with Gastric Cancer only 8 months ago & has been fighting so hard @ Dana Farber in Boston with her husband Jimmy Oates trying to keep the business they started together in Vermont going. He has been traveling back & forth and both have been so positive in the face of this impossible situation.
Never asking for help, never complaining & almost no family to help.
Mariza's doctors at Dana Farber delivered the devastating news the chemo isn't only not working but is killing her and there are no other treatment options. Mariza wants to go home to Vermont to be with her husband. Jimmy still has to work, they are self employed & they are the employees. Even Insurance , there are so many medical expenses piling up that are impossible to keep up with and on top of that she doesn't have life insurance !! The nurses aren't covered around the clock & she can't be alone while Jimmy tries to keep the business going while losing his wife. Mariza's son & Mother are in Brazil & won't make it here in time
I'm asking for everyone's help to ease just some of the burden & pain they're facing right now so they can focus on taking care of making Mariza comfortable & spending every minute they can together in the very short time she has left.
Mariza has helped change so many lives including my son's Father & his relationship with his son. She is such an important person in so many peoples lives & has so much faith in God & people. We are all better people for knowing her.
