Tears of a Tiger for Teens
My students need a class set of the book called, "Tears of a Tiger", which is about a boy who faces hardship throughout high school.
My Students:
One of my goals as a teacher is to provide my students with a learning experience that they deserve. Working in a Title 1 school, I want to motivate my students to reach beyond their normal expectations to achieve goals that they didn't think were possible.
I am fortunate to work with an amazing group of more than 120 students who face the challenge of living in poverty on a daily basis.
Despite this challenge, my students come to school eager to learn and look for an opportunity to enrich their lives through their learning. Their motivation has inspired me to provide them with the learning that they deserve to reach their greatest expectations.
My Project
In our 8th grade classroom, my students enrich their learning through literacy. My students are continuously working on their reading skills, such as fluency and comprehension, in order to become more advanced readers. Reading books provides my students an opportunity to explore new worlds/realities and make connections to their own lives, help to make reading more enjoyable for them.
With your donation, my students will have the opportunity to explore the new world of high school.
"Tears of a Tiger" will provide students a chance to jump into the shoes of a high schooler, who faces many different challenges on a daily basis. As 8th graders who are about to go off to high school, this book will allow students to make connections to their own lives, as the character faces many hardships every teenager will face in life. Through this book, my students will learn different life lessons that they can apply to their own life.
