Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to click the link to check out my story! with your help and my goal, we can make a difference.

StrongMen is a Non-Profit organisation with aims and ambitions to tackle emotional and mental health issues brought about by the suffering from bereavement.

on Saturday 18th May 2019, it is my goal to replicate climbing Mount Everest in one day. The climb itself is 8850m vertically, which transpires into 58070 steps. I will aim to complete this challenge while wearing a British Army standard issue Body Armour adding additional strain and fatigue along the way while also raising awareness for troubled veterans. The challenge itself will be carried out on a StairMaster (revolving stepping machine) at The Fitness Bank in Oswaldtwistle thanks to prolonged support from the owner, Sy.

One step at a time until I reach the ''summit''.

There are various reasons I want to support this charity. In the past 5 years I have seen death, often in more unpleasant ways. My time in Sierra Leone during the Ebola epidemic with the British Army surrounded me with death on a weekly occurrence, more often than not young children and elderly individuals deteriorating in the most viscous of ways. More recently, I found a very close family member unresponsive in the early hours in the morning. Having gave CPR for 60 minutes I would soon learn that not all life is recoverable, the loss I suffered that day triggered something inside me that broke down my coping mechanisms that I had relied on in the years gone by when facing bereavement. With thanks to a great support network including my Fiancé, our family, my counsellor and my doctor, my recovery from the mental strain of dealing with death and bereavement is turning a corner and I now feel it is my duty to help people in a similar situation.

I envisage this challenge to be nothing short of gruelling. The maths behind it doesn't exactly work out in my favour as I will need to consume in excess of 17000 calories during the day. Myself and Sy will be working through a training programme and a structure for the day to accommodate my needs for the challenge. I will be setting myself a goal to achieve the full distance within 24 hours, Wish me luck!
