Mindful Mothers… Special Retreat for Pregnant Mothers in Sri Lanka

I believe, like the Dalai Lama, that we can change the world if we teach children loving kindness and mindfulness. That is why I started my incubator project 8 years ago

Last year, a nurse cried as she shared the following with me:“Bhante, you just can’t imagine what it’s like to be able to save a baby’s life. The mothers are so happy!” I am so glad that your donations helped so many babies be well.

But now, I am thinking, what if we could reach these babies in the womb? What if they were born to mothers who felt loved and cared for? What could our generosity cause?

What if, in one of the poorest countries in the world, we could have a generation of babies born to mothers who knew about the power of loving kindness, proper nutrition, and rest during pregnancy?

Imagine what would be possible.

Please help fund a retreat for 300 pregnant women in Sri Lanka, where we can teach mothers about their special place in the world and about how loving kindness and mindfulness can help them and their babies. I want to give them love and care and honor them as Bodhisattvas just as all the great spiritual leaders, including the Buddha, have asked us to do. I also want to give them care packages of items that they will need for their new babies.

When I do a baby blessing I always think: I can see the whole universe in this child. As a grateful son, I think the least I can do is try my best to fill that universe with love, peace, and wellness.
