We at Sunlight Sanctuary in France never turn away a needy animal that crosses our path. We are a not a rich, famous sanctuary and have no volunteers, we do everything ourselves and we simply could not do what we do without support. Recently we decided that in order to keep up our very high standards of care we could not take in any more animals after the pending turkeys we have agreed to help. No sooner had we said this we discovered a mother cat and her babies in a box filled with rubbish in the back of an outbuilding we have that’s never been emptied and renovated. Of course we HAD to help them. This involved hastily building a nursery and anticipating over one thousand euros we would have to find for spaying, neutering, vaccinating, microchipping, flea/tick/worm treatments etc, as well as the additional monthly costs of food and litter and the materials we had to buy to make the nursery. We have a budget for the animals we have and we were not expecting to have another five cats (bringing the total to 13). We took in another family a few months ago and have only just paid for all veterinary treatment after only raising half of the money needed. Now more than ever we need your support to help us take care of these new poor babies and their mother. Feral/stray cats in France have a very hard time, they are treated as ‘vermin’ by many. We need to protect them for the rest of their lives and make sure they can now be happy, healthy and safe. Please please consider chipping in to help us pay for everything they need!
