Morning Dove Therapeutic Riding is a PATH Internation Premier Accredited Center and one of the largest in Indiana. Our Mission is to improve the lives of individuals with physical, cognitive and/or behavioral challenges in the greater Indianapolis community through equine assisted therapies and activities. Our riders, over 300 each year, range in age from 4 years to 80+.
Throughout the world, hundreds of thousands of individuals with and without special needs experience the rewarding benefits of equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT). A physical, cognitive or emotional special need does not limit a person from interacting with horses. In fact, such interactions can prove highly rewarding. For instance, experiencing the rhythmic motion of a horse can be very beneficial. Riding a horse moves the rider’s body in a manner similar to a human gait. So, riders with physical needs often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength.
61 cents of every dollar in expenses is raised through our generous donors. Morning Dove operates on a solid foundation of program growth, carefully managed expenses and slowly increasing philanthropic support. We work hard to keep our fees to riders low. This allows us to fulfill our mission, serve an economically diverse client pool, all while maintaining the quality required of a Premier Accredited Center.

Meet Jack:
Jack was diagnosed with autism when he was two years old. He was the sweetest boy with big eyes
and a big hug. He had very little verbal ability and had so many motor tics that when we would go to
dinner we had to sit him in the corner of a booth to keep him from repeatedly falling off of the chair.
"We started at Morning Dove shortly thereafter and were thrilled by the confidence that sitting on
the horse gave Jack. He sat up straight and started making eye contact. With time, we started sitting at
tables and learning manners. Now, he can go to any restaurant and order his own food. Today, Jack is
a confident rider who can guide his horse independently. Our family time is not hidden anymore, but
comfortable and happy, better than we could ever have imagined."
