Morgan's African Nursing Internship

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Morgan I was an EMT, and I worked as a resident care aide in an assisted living center for three years. I am currently working on becoming an RN.

I got into nursing because of the caring aspect. I love to give, and I love seeing the looks on the faces of the lives I have touched. I have always wanted to give back to those less fortunate than ourselves with the tools I have learned. I want to do this not just in the clincal setting but for people as a whole.

I have become very passionate about the health care in underdevloped countries, specifically Africa, and wish there was more I could do to help. I have had many conversations with loved ones explaining what I would give to go there and give vaccinations and provide provide patient teaching. Altough I am sure there will be much they can teach me as well. I could see a whole new world of health care and healing: an education I cannot get here in the United States. Fortunately, through Work the World I have the chance at an extraodinary opportunity.

I have been given an opportunity to travel to Arusha, Tanzania and study this summer. I will be able to assist in their hospitalls for 20+ hours a week, for two weeks. I have the chance at working in a vaccination clinic. I will also be able to spend a week within a village learning about the types of healthcare and healing preformed there. I will be able to assist the different providers there as well. In my time not in the "clincal setting" I will be taught some Swahili and immersed in the culture.

Unfortunately on my quest to give back, money has become an issue. If I do not raise the money before June I cannot particitpate in the program. There is so much more I could say about the program. If anyone has any questions the link for the site is posted below or feel free to email me at:

I feel silly asking for help when I am the one wanting to go out and help others, but this is something I am very passionate about. I would hate missing out on this opportunity. So thank you all in advance for just taking the time to read this. For those of you willing to help I will be starting a site to show you all the lives you have helped touch. Also, any additional money raised will go to providing supplies for the hospitals and donations to their local charites, orphanages, and clinics.

Thank you again,
Morgan
